Lots of cooking this weekend, but not much of it new, so this is just a wrap-up post of what’s been going on.
BBQ Grill Pork & Pineapple
Pork belly & pineapple grilles in chilli glaze. Mexican style grilled garden corn. Sourdough pita breads. Grilled chorizo. Grilled mushroom. Salad.

Home Made PBJs
We still have homemade PB and garden jam – plus we’ve make another eight jars of jam since then! In an effort to use up as much jam as possible we’ve decided to go for open sandwiches.
Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Not really grilled, done in the frying pan, with some chorizo, Worcestershire sauce and Tobasco added for good measure.
French Garden Apple Cake
Our favourite apple cake, with the first of the crop of garden apples.
Cast Iron Chicken
After the success of cast iron chicken last week, we’re doing it again, this time with a red wine vinegar sauce, mashed potatoes & spinach.
Leftovers Breakfast
Last night’s leftover mash, with bacon and chorizo that’s hanging around the fridge, plus poached eggs.
Cast Iron Steak Frites
This meal is loosely based on our favourite steak restaurant, Le Relais de Venise L’entrecote.
Then the main will be garlic and chill rump steak, based on this ATK recipe, but just pan frying given the thin steaks we have.
The frites will be ATK’s cheat’s way of doing double-fried chips: microwave them to soften, then fry to crisp up.
We’ll have this with what at Le Relais is a starter: a salad in mustard dressing, topped with walnuts.
