Our niece is a big fan of Elmer the Elephant. According to a guy at work Elmer is a bit of a trickster elephant who enjoys playing tricks on other elephants, and is thus a good thing for a young girl to be into :)
Soph is doing a Madeira cake which she’ll crumb coat, then we’ll use this template to cut out fondant icing to make the signature patchwork effect.
So… over two hours later, I’ve cut out all the shapes…
Then using the cake wire cutting the cake is easy.
Putting on the shapes is another hour’s work…
But it’s worth the effort – it looks like Elmer!
Out cake holder fits the cake, but not the board it will sit on, so we’ll have to take them over separately and assemble at the party. Let’s hope there aren’t any transferring disasters!
The transfer was surprisingly easy, even the trunk stayed on!
Fabulous instructions, thanks so much for sharing this. I made it for my daughter’s 3rd birthday party and she was over the moon!
