Yep – more waffle machine tricks! This time: falafel.
I’m not following that recipe, just the technique. My recipe is going to be the xmas falafel I’ve done previously, as I happen to have cranberries leftover from xmas that don’t seem to have gone mouldy yet. Although without the chestnuts as the ones we had we’ve baked up and eaten, and adding some baby spinach as there’s some in the fridge that needs using up.
We’re having them with pitta breads, done in record time using the new proofer at 30C.
Making the falafel mix is easy: microwave the sweet potato then everything in the food processor.
Four minutes in the waffle maker and all looks good.
Then we had to remove them… not so easy. In fact after the third batch it was a total mess!
So a nice idea to use the waffle machine, but not really practical. Better to just oven them like we did last time, and it doesn’t take much longer given the waffle version has to be done in batches.
As well as the pitta bread we’re having some salad with Soph’s dressing, plus homemade harissa hummus (loosely based on this BBC Good Food recipe).
A pretty quick and healthful lunch, and very tasty. But next time we’ll use the oven for the falafel.

Very healthy. I won’t be popping over to clean your waffle machine – too much faffle
