Flapjack 2.0

Trying to improve on my previous attempt by going back to basics: plain flapjack that I want slightly crunchy on the outside and chewy inside, that hold together as proper slices.

So changes from last time are:

  • Use some jumbo oats in the mix
  • Don’t use raspberries, chocolate or other additions
  • Cook at 180C fan for 30 minutes

So that’s:

  • 250g butter, melted
  • 150g dark brown sugar
  • 200g golden syrup
  • 300g porridge oats
  • 200g jumbo oats
  • Pinch of salt

Melt butter, golden syrup & sugar in microwave, mix salt & oats together.

Combine, into foil lined tin.

Bake at 180C fan for 30 minutes.

Looks nicely cooked. Not sure if it’ll be crispy… but we’ll see.

Result! Crispy, solid, chewy bars!

OK… maybe a touch dry, but with any additives like chocolate or fruit that wouldn’t be a problem.

Flapjack: sorted.
